School Library Reopens!

Seton is excited to announce the school library will be re-opening for book check-out! Your child will be able to choose from a variety of non-fiction and fiction books to help them learn new concepts, reinforce lessons from class, or read books to reach his/her Accelerated Reader Program Goal (AR). All AR Books are labeled with reading levels and point values to assist students in achieving their highest level of reading comprehension.

Classroom teachers are signing up for permanent time slots for their class to spend weekly time in the library. Your child will soon be checking out books with a designated return date. Please assist us in having your child take responsibility for returning library books in a timely fashion to avoid a fine and so others may enjoy the books as well.

We are in need of volunteers in the library to help with book shelving. If you are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays for one hour to help shelve books, please email Nichole Eastman (eastman@seseton.org). Volunteers must have diocesan fingerprint clearance and safe environment training. These volunteer hours will be counted toward your family’s annual 20 hour service requirement. Thank you very much for your help!

LEAD Program Begins for 5th Graders

St. Elizabeth Seton School is partnering with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to educate students about drugs, bullying, and safety from violence through a ten week program called L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs). The goal is to create safer, healthier, happier communities for all.

Our 5th graders are excited to meet the new law enforcement officer and instructor, Corporal Victor Rodriguez. This educational program will be taught weekly beginning Friday, September 13, until their graduation on Nov. 22!

Blue Zones Certified!

We are happy to announce that St. Elizabeth Seton is now a Blue Zones certified school! In addition to our challenging academic curriculum, faith education, and emphasis on self-less service, our goal was to create greater awareness of the importance of physical health and wellness for our students. We are happy to be part of this community-wide effort. Stay tuned for information on our ribbon cutting ceremony coming soon!

Back to School Means Back to Mass

Now that summer vacations are over and school is underway, we emphasize the importance of families attending mass each Sunday. The renewal and fresh start of the school year is also an opportunity to renew and deepen our faith through regular attendance at Mass as a family. Our students look up to us (educators and parents) as examples of living our faith and consistently practicing what we preach. It is important they see us place mass as a priority in our lives and in theirs—Jesus at the center. The commitment you have made to Catholic education should also be supported by your commitment to your parish.
